Kontula Youth Participation
Hi 12-17 years old young people! Do you want to make an impact, plan fun things and be involved in creating a homely, fun and safe feeling Mellunkylä and its areas Kontula, Kivikko, Vesala, Mellunmäki and Östersundom? Come along to the youth center and participate, follow us on social media and come spend time together with other young people and youth workers! Tell your ideas about a better Mellunkylä, we help you with your ideas. The city of Helsinki has many channels for young people to participate, you can find the right and your ways to participate here.
In addition to participating the youth center activities, young people can make their voices herd through the Youth Budget and Youth Council, which rotates year after year! Any young person can participate and make an impact<3
Autumn 2023 is the peak time for influence!
The Youth Budget 2023-2024 continues!
Youth Budget workshops were organized between 11 and 13 September 2023. 87 young people in the Mellunkylä region participated in the workshops! Good job young people! In October, the young people get to vote at their own school on the ideas they like, which the young people planned in the workshops. Read more about the ideas through this LINK. Voting will take place between 2 and 27 October. Voting takes place via schools at their own days for voting. Youth aged 13-17 years can vote.

- Helsingin yhteislyseo 13.10. and 26.10.
- Sakarinmäki comprehensive school 13.10.
After voting the young people get to nagotiate with the chiefs of Youth services about which proposals will be implemented in 2024 an d which proposals we will nagotiate the youth budget money! Youth can sign up to the advisory board which takes place at 16.11.2023 and 29.11.2023.

Young peoples ideas are promoted e.g. also through OmaStadi and the youth initiative channel. We submitted youth ideas through Omastadi between 2 and 15 October 2023! Voting to these ideas will take place at february-march 2024 so stay tuned. Young people can leave initiatives at any time in the initiative channel!
Standing for the Youth Council has ended! Young people born in 2006-2010 are eligible to stand and vote in the elections held in autumn 2023. Any young person born in 2006-2010 who offically lives in Helsinki can be part of this group of 30 young people.
