The City of Helsinki’s Youth Services do not have their own premises in the Pihlajisto area. Instead, we carry out regional youth work in the premises of the Pihlajisto–Viikinmäki residents’ association.
Young people can come to Mesta Resident House in Pihlajisto to meet up with their friends or play on the computer or PlayStation. At Mesta, you can listen to music and play board games, for example. Our activities focus on lower comprehensive school aged children; activities for older young people are organised by Pihlajamäki and Viikki Youth Centres.
We organise excursions and various events and cook together on a weekly basis. We also play traditional games such as hide-and-seek, kirkonrotta (a variant of hide-and-seek) and tag. The only things not allowed are bullying, cursing or other inappropriate treatment of others.
A unique atmosphere is established among friends. A positive atmosphere for the day arises from small things. As a location, we want to keep the participation threshold as low as possible, and we do not require you to do anything. You are welcome to simply come and hang out.
We listen to young people’s wishes whenever possible. So come and tell us what you would like to see, even if you have never visited our facilities before. We also move about the area a lot and cooperate with other local operators. We are stronger together!
Pihlajisto’s youth work will start again as soon as the autumn plans are finalised. We will provide information as soon as we know more details.
In all possible questions you can even contact the youth counselors directly, ie Erkki or Ville!
