Introduction

Inspired by the Biennial: Art, nature and handicrafts in the archipelago, at the heart of the most beautiful part of eastern Helsinki – activities for young people!

The Youth Island Gallery will once again be open to visitors on the island of Vartiosaari for the summer. This year, Helsinki’s Youth Services and their partners will organise free workshops involving experiences with nature, adventure, art, natural cosmetics and working with wood, stone or jewellery for young people.

Youth Island Gallery is a place where nature, art and crafts meet

The Youth Island Gallery workshops are mainly intended for Helsinki-based young people and youth groups aged between 12 and 25. If you want to ensure your participation in a particular workshop, you can register in advance by sending an email to saarigalleria@hel.fi. The advance registration is recommended especially for youth groups, as some of the workshops are only available to a limited number of people.

Surrounded by natural beauty, young people get to do creative work, grow crops, care for animals and spend time in nature. In addition to the magnificent island landscape, the working environment includes the stable and barn built in the yard of dentist Ernst Wasenius’s villa more than a hundred years ago.
