At the Island Gallery on Vartiosaari, nature, art, and crafts meet!
Young people are offered creative activities in a magnificent stable and natural environment. Additionally, you can participate in farming, taking care of animals, and enjoying nature moments.
The Island Gallery is open during the summer of 2024 from June 11th to July 24th. This year, Helsinki Youth Services, together with their partners, are organizing free nature experience, adventure, art, woodworking, and natural cosmetics workshops for young people. You can find detailed workshop schedules and daily programs on the Island Gallery’s Instagram. For more information, you can also contact the Island Gallery instructors!
You can also come to the Island Gallery just to relax and spend a peaceful summer day surrounded by nature.
Welcome!
Youth Island Gallery is a place where nature, art and crafts meet
The Youth Island Gallery workshops are mainly intended for Helsinki-based young people and youth groups aged between 12 and 25. If you want to ensure your participation in a particular workshop, you can register in advance by sending an email to saarigalleria@hel.fi. The advance registration is recommended especially for youth groups, as some of the workshops are only available to a limited number of people.
Surrounded by natural beauty, young people get to do creative work, grow crops, care for animals and spend time in nature. In addition to the magnificent island landscape, the working environment includes the stable and barn built in the yard of dentist Ernst Wasenius’s villa more than a hundred years ago.
Young people’s Eco Café
The Eco Café operates as part of the Youth Island Gallery activities on Vartiosaari. It offers a small selection of delicious ethical and environmentally friendly products, and of course, waffles, coffee, and tea.
In the Eco Café, good choices have already been made for you. Welcome! Card payments and MobilePay only. In the summer of 2024, the Eco Café will open on Tuesday, June 11th. The café is open from Tuesday to Friday until July 24th, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
