Pihlajamäki Youth Park

Introduction

Pihlajamäki Youth Park comprises a girls’ park, a freestyle park, a multi-purpose field, and a café that is open during school holidays.

Girls’ park

The girls’ park, better known as the swing park, is equipped with swings, carousels and balance boards. As a special feature, the park has four specially designed swings, in which people can sit facing each other. The girl’s park is an excellent place for a picnic or simply hanging out with friends.

Freestyle park

Finland’s largest plywood skatepark, one of the largest pumptracks, a dirt bike track and the only vert ramp in Finland. The park is a place where you can skate, ride a scooter or bicycle or go roller skating, for example. At the freestyle park, users are instructed in the park’s code of conduct to ensure that everyone stays safe, considering how high the speeds can get there at times! The jumps of the dirt bike track require some experience, whereas the other places are also well-suited for beginners.

The park is one of the city’s official graffiti painting locations.

Multi-purpose field

A basketball court, football field, running track and arena where you can play both floorball and futsal. Every day, the multi-purpose field is used for ball games, orienteering and geocaching. The field also includes a disc golf track.

Holidays at the youth park

Youth Services organise activities at the park during school holidays, when the summer employees hired for the park run various activities intended for young people at the park. The park loans recreational equipment ranging from BMX bikes to basketballs, and the employees provide beginners with guidance in different sports.

At the heart of the park operates Summer Café Linnunpesä, where summer employees offer self-baked pastries and beverages, as well as nutritious snacks, at an affordable price. The café is open to the park’s users as well as local residents or fitness enthusiasts passing by.

The youth park is also a venue for events, course activities, day camps and tournaments.

Come and spend a summer day in a safe and scenic environment with your friends!
