Jakomäki Youth Centre is a gathering place for young people in Helsinki, located at Jakomäenpolku 6. We are part of the Northeastern Youth Work Unit.
Group activities
At the youth centre, you can participate in group activities such as sports clubs and cooking clubs.
The building features a sports room, a music studio and, of course, a pool table, table football and equipment for playing ping pong. You can also play on a game console.
Hanging out
The youth centre is a safe place for all visitors, where people can come to hang out and relax after the school day, for example. You can definitely get assistance and support from youth workers with your schoolwork and projects. The young people who visit the building are nice people, and there are many joint projects. At weekly youth centre meetings, participants plan joint activities and lay down and update the building’s rules.
Youth workers help young people comprehensively in the challenging situations of everyday life, such as searching for a job or complicated matters related to housing. Do not hesitate to come and ask for help. We will see how we can assist you.
If you are interested in opportunities for young people to influence things, our youth workers would be happy to tell you about the young people’s influence system NuBu as well as other channels for influencing things.
Membership card a.k.a. Jässäri
The City of Helsinki Youth Services’ membership card, also called Jässäri, is your free VIP pass to youth centre activities, events and hobbies all over Helsinki. The membership card is available to all young people in Helsinki aged up to 29. It gives them access to the music studios, art groups, games and just hanging out at the Youth Centres, among other things.
The membership card activates once the guardian accepts the application.
If using the digital version is not possible, you can get a plastic card.
There are two ways to obtain a plastic card:
Option A: The digital Jässäri has been registered, but using a smartphone is not possible
• The guardian registers the Jässäri online at https://jassari.populon.fi/
• Order a plastic membership card.
• The card will be delivered by mail to your home or can be picked up from the Oodi youth space.
Option B: The digital Jässäri cannot be registered online
• Registration is done at the youth center together with a guardian (for those under 18, the guardian must be present).
• After registration, the card will be sent by mail or can be picked up from the Oodi youth space.
The City of Helsinki never shares the contact information of young people or their guardians with anyone, and users always have the right to check the data we have collected. More information about Helsinki’s youth services is available at Things to do and places – Youth Helsinki and on our social media channels.
