Mäntyniemi: Information and facilities
The campground is located on Vartiosaari Island in East Helsinki, near Laajasalo and Tammisalo. The area is intended for use by Helsinki-based youth organizations, youth groups, and local residents for organizing various camps and events.
Mäntyniemi Stuga (built in 1896) serves as the camp center’s main building. The grounds include Sinikkala, which serves as an accommodation building, and Punakkala, where activity equipment is stored.
There is plenty to do in the courtyard area, both in winter and summer. The Mäntyniemi camp center is designed for events of approximately 20–50 people.
Camp center facilities:
- Accommodation for approximately 23 people: accommodation building for 20 people, main building for 3 people
- Tent accommodation available in the courtyard by arrangement
- The main building is two-story
- The main building features a kitchen, a living room, and three small rooms on the upper floor
- Kitchen equipped with appliances, a dishwasher, and tableware for approximately 30 people
- Oven, stove, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator
- A separate sauna building next to the dock, featuring a washroom without showers, a heated water tank, and a changing room
- The yard includes a barbecue shelter, outdoor tables, and a hut
- Firewood is available for campers’ use
- The yard has two outdoor toilets and a wood shed
- Dock, rowboat, SUP boards and canoes, trampoline, and disc golf targets
- Games: Mölkky, pétanque, croquet, badminton, balls,
- Internet connection
Boat transportation
During summer time a solar-powered ferry runs to Vartiosaari, providing convenient access to the island. During the fall, winter, and spring seasons, boat transportation must be arranged with the camp center staff.
