Stair training is popular, with fitness stairs all over Helsinki
Description
As their name suggests, fitness stairs allow you to improve your fitness level quickly. The large muscles of the lower
body are worked particularly hard when climbing stairs. The buttocks and respiratory system also get a workout, and and oxygenation improves. However, there are a few basic things to remember when you’re on fitness stairs to make
sure you get the most from your workout. First of all, you must take into account your own state of health so, if you’re sick or otherwise unwell, you should not head for the stairs. Secondly, don’t aim for the stars straight away. Begin according to your own starting- and fitness level in small steps and with breaks in between. Thirdly, remember to warm up and that there are many other exercises you can also do on fitness stairs such as jumps, squats or even push-ups. And descending stairs is also good for the fronts of the thighs. So stair training is mainly uphill training and, if done regularly, it is also possible to achieve quick results. Stairs are often a safer training platform than hill training, as the steps are flat and sturdy. There are already many places in Helsinki where you can get a taste of fitness stairs, as there are already a good number of stairs of different lengths in the city.
