Detached youth work in Helsinki
The city of Helsinki’s detached youth work meets young people during their free time. The detached youth workers moves on foot in parks, shopping malls, the railway station and other places popular with young people. The target group is all young people and young adults under the age of 29.
Work happens mostly in the evening from Wednesday to Sunday. The detached youth workers work in the whole City of Helsinki, but sometimes they move also in Espoo and Vantaa as well. The entire team consists of 12 detached youth workers.
The City of Helsinki is divided into different areas, and different detached youth workers are responsible for each area.
The detached youth work is anonymous, voluntary and free of charge. Its goal is to make Helsinki a safer place for young people through youth work.
