Wempaimisto Outdoor Equipment Lending Service
The Wempaimisto Outdoor Equipment Lending Service lends equipment to Helsinki residents under the age of 29, youth groups, youth organizations operating in Helsinki, city departments, and other organizations based in Helsinki.
Equipment is loaned only for activities taking place within Finland. Wempaimisto is located in Itä-Pasila, on the premises of the Silmu youth center.
Membership card
Individual borrowers must have a valid Youth Services membership card, which you can obtain free of charge from the Jässärin website. Please ensure that you have a valid membership card by the time you contact the Wempaimisto. When creating your membership card, you can select Wempaimisto as your location.
Instruction for Borrowers
Bring your identification documents. Individuals may only borrow items for their own use, e.g., one tent, one Trangia stove, etc. Groups may borrow a maximum of 2 half-squad tents, Niger tents, 10-person tents, or hiking tents. Additional equipment may be borrowed in greater quantities by agreement.
Organizations and educational institutions must provide a letter of authorization bearing the signature of the chairperson or secretary (or the principal in the case of educational institutions), along with contact information. The equipment is intended for use by organizations, schools, and youth groups operating in the Helsinki area. The destination of the trip must also be specified.
Reservations
Loans must be arranged in advance via email. Equipment can be reserved no earlier than two months before the start of the loan period. The loan period is a maximum of three weeks.
Pickup
The equipment will be handed over to the borrower at the agreed time. The borrower must provide proof of identity.
Return
Borrowed equipment must be returned by the due date, clean and dry, in its original packaging. Late returns will result in the temporary suspension of borrowing privileges.
Damage
If any damage occurs to the borrowed equipment, it must be reported at the time of return. If the damage cannot be attributed to normal wear and tear, the borrower will be responsible for repair or replacement costs. The borrower is liable for full compensation for lost items.

Open Mon 2:00–4:00 PM and Wed 2:00–4:00 PM.
In spring 2026, Wempaimisto’s open house events will be held on the following dates. On open house days, you can come and explore Wempaimisto with a friend, guardian, or youth group, for example.
