For Candidates
Great to see you standing as a candidate!
Add this page to your phone’s home screen or bookmarks so you can easily access the information later during the election autumn.
On this page, you will find printable photography and videography consent forms, the guardian’s consent form and other useful information on the schedules and preparing for the different phases.
We also follow the principles of safer space elections. Please read the principles carefully, and let’s value and treat each other with respect <3
Guardian’s consent form
Is a document with which your guardian gives you permission to take part in the elections. This form is compulsory and must be signed and submitted to the Youth Council youth workers. You can download it here:
Guardian’s consent form
The guardian’s consent form must be submitted by 5 October 2025, so take it with you when you arrive at the election workshop.
Consent to photography
These two documents give you permission to appear in the election photos and any videos. As you are a minor, we will also need your guardian’s signature for these. Photos will be taken for the elections compass and election poster.
Consent for photography
The consent for photography form must be submitted by 5 October 2025, so take it with you to the election workshop.
Election workshops and photography
As a candidate, you will be able to answer the elections compass questions (1–5 October). The compass will be made available to the public at the end of October. Voters can use the elections compass to find a suitable candidate based on how you and the other candidates have answered the questions.
Election workshops will be held on five days. You can take part whenever it suits you best.
Candidate photos will also be taken at the workshop. The photos will be used on websites and posters, among other places. It is definitely worth taking a photo, as a grey silhouette on a joint election poster is not as inspiring as an actual picture of the candidate! You can also use the image in your own election campaign. The election posters will be sent to youth centres and schools in November, so it is vital that you take part in the photo session.
You can take part in the election workshops and photo sessions at the following times:
- Wed 1 October at 16:00–20:00, Töölö Sports Hall (Youth Council premises)
- Thu 2 October at 16:00–20:00, Töölö Sports Hall (Youth Council premises)
- Fri 3 October at 16:00–20:00, Töölö Sports Hall (Youth Council premises)
- Sat 4 October at 11:00–18:00, Töölö Sports Hall (Youth Council premises)
- Sun 5 October at 11:00–18:00, Töölö Sports Hall (Youth Council premises)
Töölö Sports Hall (Paavo Nurmen kuja 1 C, 00250 Helsinki, 5th floor)
Candidate briefings
We will organise briefings for the Youth Council election candidates on Saturday 11 October at 12:00–14:00 and 15:00–17:00 at Helsinki Youth Council’s premises in Töölö Sports Hall. Address: Paavo Nurmen kuja 1 C, where you can gain important information about the elections and the Youth Council.
The content of both briefings will be the same, so choose the one that suits you best. Please register in advance for the candidate briefings. You will get the registration instructions at the election workshops.
Candidate hangouts
We will organise hangout evenings for the Youth Council election candidates at Helsinki Youth Council’s premises in Töölö Sports Hall (Paavo Nurmen kuja 1 C).
Fri 31 October at 16:00–20:00
Fri 7 November at 16:00–20:00
Fri 14 November at 16:00–20:00
The hangout evenings are an informal way for you to meet other candidates and us, the Youth Council instructors. The Sports Hall has a gaming console, board games and other fun things to do together.
Candidate hangouts are a great way to get to know other young people and us instructors!
Youth Council youth workers
You can contact the Youth Council instructors if you have any questions about your candidacy. There are no silly questions, so ask anything!
