Dafna Maimon: Orient Express Yourself – URB22 at Stoa
Description
Orient Express Yourself is a participatory performance where the audience can buy a portion of falafels from a food truck using personal experiences of family relations or of patriarchal society as payment.
Orient Express, the first kebab and falafel restaurant in Helsinki, founded by Maimon’s family in the Forum shopping centre in 1985, inspires the work. The performance is part of Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma’s ARS22 Live programme.
Orient Express Yourself was first implemented at Lilith Performance Studio in Malmö in 2017.
URB Festival is a street art and culture festival produced by Kiasma Theatre every summer since 2000, presenting the impact of ever-changing and youth culture on many forms of contemporary art. URB makes space for incompleteness, enables experiments and connects communities, artists and actors. This year, the festival will be intertwined with the themes of the ARS22 exhibition in Kiasma, which include coming together, exploring our common world and sharing experiences through art.
Performers: Anne Pajunen, Hozan Omar
