JUNNUSOPPA

Legendary football club Pallokentän Sosiaalipalloilijat expands to junior football.

Description

The Pallokentän Sosiaalipalloilijat football club, also known as SOPPA, has been playing on the Töölö ball field, Bollis, near the Olympic Stadium for over 30 years on a weekly basis. From the very beginning, one of SOPPA’s key principles has been
that the background of the players makes no difference: all willing former and current players have been welcome to join the team. Starting on Bollis on 11 May 2022, JUNNUSOPPA is a junior team that welcomes girls and boys, offering an
hour of sports, fun and games open to all children and young people on Wednesdays, free of charge.

JUNNUSOPPA is a joint effort by Pallokentän Sosiaalipalloilijat and Helsinki Sports Services, also serving as part of the Sports Services’ EasySport and FunAction activities. Helsinki Sports Services is involved in the JUNNUSOPPA activities by providing the Bollis field and playing and training equipment.

At JUNNUSOPPA practice sessions, suitable groups are created for 9–12-year-olds and 13–17-year-olds as needed. The sessions involve playing with a ball, diverse exercise, having fun, practising football basics and dribbling and playing
games. The purpose is not to raise top footballers, but to offer a nice hobby and playful exercise for children and young people. All children and young people are welcome to join the team, regardless of how much football they have played in the past. JUNNUSOPPA is a bullying-free zone where everyone can be themselves. The most important thing at
JUNNUSOPPA practice sessions is a good team spirit, encouraging and supporting others.

JUNNUSOPPA’s instructors and leaders are former footballers, coaches and active players. Occasionally, there may also be surprise guests from the top of Finnish football. The main language of instruction is Finnish, and participants are
taught at least one word in Helsinki slang every week.

You can wear a tracksuit and football boots or other shoes suitable for playing football. You can bring your own ball.
