Youth's Mellunkylä - Youth Budget Workshop
Description
Sign up for the Youth Budget workshop in the Mellunkylä area!
Come and brainstorm important things and fun activities for your free time in the Mellunkylä area (Kontula, Kivikko, Vesala, Mellunmäki, Fallpakka, Kurkimäki). The workshop will be held during school hours from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM. Active participation will earn you a certificate. Breakfast and light snacks will be provided during the workshop. After the workshop, students will return to their school day.
What is the Youth Budget workshop?
The Youth Budget allows young people to influence the budget of the City of Helsinki's youth services. The Youth Budget goes through four phases each year: in the spring: data collection, and in the fall: workshops, voting, and negotiations.
In the workshop, we will plan feasible activities for 2026 based on the responses from the data collection and the ideas from young people.
In the fall, there will be a vote on these proposals in schools, and we will discuss with a group of young people (the negotiating body) which ideas will receive a share of the youth services' 150,000 euros. Anyone can join the negotiating body!

P.S. The secondary schools in the Mellunkylä area are aware of the workshop. One adult from each school (Vesala pk, HYL, Naulakallion koulu) will attend the workshops, but it’s good to talk to teachers and guardians about signing up. If you don't attend a secondary school in Mellunkylä but spend a lot of time in the area and want to join the workshop, sign up, talk to your teacher and guardian, and get in touch with us so we can arrange the details. <3
