Tehdään Helsingistä entistä parempi, äänestä minua!

Introduction

I’m 13 years old, outgoing, friendly, encouraging and supportive. I want to influence as many things as possible. I want to listen to young people and make a difference.

My hobbies include robotics, breakdance, and all sorts of local hobbies e.g. football, photography club, billiards club and much more but I can’t fit it all in

Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

I think that both should be offered, so that vegetarians can choose the vegetarian option. If someone likes meat or fish or whatever, they can choose to have that. It is good to have both, but once or twice a week would be good. 🙂

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

I would like for there to be more grouping because it allows classmates to get to know each other better and helps them get along.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

I chose a definite NO because distance learning is really complicated compared to contact teaching, as not everyone has a perfect internet connection, lots of people may have choppy audio and the internet may go down, etc. Lots of people may attend but not listen or learn at all while doing something else at the same time, and not everyone necessarily has a computer or a smartphone.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

I say no, because I think that competition makes more people participate because the feeling of being first is the best.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

Yes, I agree.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

I agree because a toilet is a toilet and gender is just gender, and no matter what gender you are, everyone still goes to the toilet.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

I totally agree, but if transport were free for everyone, it would be convenient for those who do not have a car or money. They spend more money on public transport.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

I am on the fence. They have their pros and cons. They are really handy for going somewhere nearby in a hurry, but the downside is that there are a lot more accidents.
For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

I agree.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Young people’s influencing opportunities; Schools and education; Safety

Young people’s substance abuse, bullying, leisure time
