Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

Schools should offer both a meat and vegetarian option every day, as even on vegetarian days the food primarily consist of beans and soy, to which many pupils are allergic. However, the school is not always necessarily able to offer an alternative, as the food cannot deviate from the menu too much.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

Improving group cohesion could raise team spirit in classrooms and prevent social exclusion. Improving group cohesion would help everyone get to know each other better, which could prevent bullying.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

It is important for Youth Council members to have clear goals and the motivation to push them through. However, the ability to make compromises is also important.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Schools and education; Safety; Healthcare and mental health

It is very important for the Youth Council to focus on schools and education, as young people know and understand the situation at schools much better than teachers and present-day politicians, for example. It is also important to focus on safety to ensure that every young person can move about Helsinki safely. Healthcare and mental health are also important, as self-destructive behaviour and suicides among young people should be prevented by all means possible, and healthcare services should ensure that the young people of today become healthy adults.
