Introduction

Hi, I’m Ida. I decided to stand as a candidate for the Youth Council because I’m interested in the Youth Council and I want to learn what they do in the Youth Council.

Hobbies: I like playing tennis and basketball, singing and spending time with my friends.

Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

I think that schools already have enough vegetarian days. Vegetarian food is also available for vegetarians every day.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

Discrimination and bullying also go unnoticed in many schools. Because of this, I think that we should focus more on group cohesion.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

I think that everyone should get to decide for themselves whether they want to compete in their hobby/sport or not. Some are competitive and want to compete, while others just want to practise and not compete at all.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

I think that there is no need to turn all toilets into unisex toilets; instead, we could add a third toilet, so that there would be one women’s toilet, one men’s toilet and one unisex toilet, so that no one had any problems with using public toilets.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

I have nothing against the use of e-scooters. If you know how to use e-scooters and ride them responsibly, it is okay to ride them.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.
