Kivan ja turvallisen Helsingin puolesta.

Introduction

I’m an outgoing Helsinki resident with a good sense of humour. I’m bilingual, I speak both Finnish and Swedish at home and I go to a Swedish-language school.
I think it is important that Helsinki is a safe and comfortable place to live where the voices of young people are also heard.

I’m a volunteer firefighter at Malmi and it is an important part of my life. It would be important for all young people in Helsinki to have a hobby that they enjoy.

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

One vegetarian day is enough. Vegetarian food is offered every day but so should a meat option.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

Good team spirit is important in schools; if the children / young people felt that they were part of the group, it could prevent bullying and people being left alone.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

Distance learning has been very challenging for certain people, while for others it has been a better option than contact teaching. If distance learning becomes a permanent option, it should be optional.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

For many young people, competition and fast progress are important parts of their hobby, which is why competitiveness should not be reduced.
However, it is important for low-threshold recreational activities to be available to people of all ages.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

Finding a summer job can be very difficult, which is why the City of Helsinki should prioritise young people who lack prior work experience.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

Women and men’s toilets must be retained, in addition to which there could be unisex toilets.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

This would be much too expensive for the City of Helsinki.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

More rules should be established for e-scooters regarding their speed, for example.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

It is important for people to push their own goals, but this should not prevent them from making compromises.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Young people’s influencing opportunities; Safety; Healthcare and mental health

It is important for everyone’s opinions to be heard in Helsinki, which is why young people’s voices should be heard more. In Helsinki, safety should be improved by preventing juvenile delinquency and increasing streetlights, for example.
