Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

Even now there are many people who do not eat school food, and I doubt that vegetarian food would help with this problem.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

It is good to develop young people’s social skills.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

I think that hybrid learning would be best, so that young people would be able to choose the method that works for them the best.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

It is good to have a little something that is not too competitive, as competition can start having a negative effect on mental health.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

It would be good for everyone to experience working life at least once before they need to start considering a ‘real’ job.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

I think that unisex public toilets would be good; they would help many trans and non-binary people, and it would be more comfortable to go to a toilet in public spaces.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

I think that it should rather be offered for people under the age of 15. The parents would not feel as stressed.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

They are a fast and easy way to get around; the rules concerning them should be stricter, but otherwise they are nice.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

I think that the better option depends on the situation; it is better to know when you should push your opinion and when you should compromise.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

I think that equality is very important. Mental health problems are something that many young people experience, and it should be easier for them to get help. Young people should also have better opportunities to influence matters.
