Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

I think there should be options, as the recommended plate model includes meat, pasta or some other full-grain dish and half of the plate is filled with vegetables. However, vegetarians do not eat meat so they should have options for what they eat. So there should be more vegetarian options, but also meat dishes should be offered as an alternative.

 

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

It should be focused on, as there is a lot of bullying, calling people names and hitting in my school, for example. We need to create a good team spirit everywhere.

 

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

No, it should not, because it can affect many peoples’ grades negatively.

 

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

Yes it should, as hobbies should be nice and fun.

 

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

Yes, summer jobs should be given to those with less work experience, so that they can get more experience and it will be easier to get work when they are adults.

 

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

I think there should be both toilets, but also a third toilet, which cuts down queues. Also, there are many non-binary people today who may find it difficult to choose which toilet to use.

 

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

People could have long school journeys or long trips to hobbies, so they should be given a chance to ride free of charge, as not all families have enough money.

 

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

Using e-scooters should be prohibited in the evenings, because people are sometimes drunk and cause a lot of dangerous situations.

 

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

Youth Council members should be able to compromise so that they can get a part of their proposal through. If they only try to get their own way, they won’t necessarily get any part of their idea accepted.
