Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

I think that the number of days does not matter much, but if we want everyone to eat more vegetarian food at school, the food quality has to improve a lot.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

From the perspective of group tasks, the current level of grouping is sufficient. But it feels like the team spirit at schools is currently a little broken.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

I personally found it more difficult to concentrate, and I felt like my motivation and the teacher’s support disappeared. In other words, I think that it is important for distance learning to be discontinued.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

In many school sports, winning now seems to be more important than things such as team spirit, which concerns me.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

It is important for first-timers to get a job, but I also think that it is important to have proactive people with more experience. I am neutral on this matter.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

I think that it is wrong to assume that everyone fits into the man-woman binary. I think that people should be able to feel comfortable in public toilets.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

It is also important for young people from low-income families to be able to use public transport. This would probably also help reduce the instances of people travelling without a ticket.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

I see no reason why e-scooters should still be used when the public transport system is so comprehensive today. City bikes also feel like a safer option.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

I think that compromises sometimes have to be made to make progress, but your own opinions and goals should weigh in decisions.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Equal opportunities and equality; Art and culture; Healthcare and mental health

I chose mental health because I advocate for the improvement of mental health education. I believe in equality and that it should be promoted among young people. Art and culture are also important to me.
