Introduction

My candidate number is 91. I live in Malmi and study at Helsinki German School. I own a dog and some stick insects. I would like to work on reducing bullying at schools and in hobbies and to increase young people’s opportunities for making a difference. I am not afraid to make noise about things that are important to me.

Hobbies: Taking care of animals, horse-back riding and playing Star Stable

Helsingin saksalainen koulu

Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

Vegetarian food is environmentally friendly and many people like it. Adding more vegetarian days would not hurt anyone.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

Grouping is important and should be invested in. In some cases, however, grouping does not do much good.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

Distance learning is a functional learning method alongside contact teaching. Many pupils like distance learning, and some even learn better remotely. Nevertheless, distance learning does not suit everyone, and this needs to be taken into account.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

Hobbies should be about having fun, rather than frantic competition. However, some people like to compete, so their wishes should also be respected and the competitiveness of some hobbies maintained.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

Summer jobs should be offered primarily to young people who do not yet have work experience, as the City of Helsinki’s summer jobs are the perfect place to gain more work experience that can be useful later in working life.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

Girls, in particular, could feel awkward about using a gender-neutral toilet, especially during their period.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

Free public transport for those under 18 could work.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

Banning e-scooters altogether would not be a good idea, as they have their uses as well. Instead, their use could be restricted with speed limits and by banning their use at night, for example.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

I am willing to compromise and also listen to the views and opinions of others.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Young people’s influencing opportunities; Schools and education; Safety

It is important that young people have the opportunity to influence matters that concern them. Helsinki needs to be a safe place for everyone, and that is why safety needs to be focused on. The comfort of schools is very important, and school bullying must be addressed more effectively and with stronger measures.
