Introduction

I would like to be a member of the Youth Council because I enjoy influencing the events of my small home environment and solving the concerns of others, for example, at school. I am a very enthusiastic, sympathetic and outgoing person.

My hobby is Taekwondo.

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

Schools should serve vegetarian options separately, so that people who do not like vegetarian food wouldn’t have to skip meals and stay hungry. I have seen this happen in my own school, at least.

 

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

At schools, people are often discriminated against in group work as the others in the group do not know them.

 

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

If people don’t use modern equipment as much, studying can be really challenging for them, or if someone in the class has an attention disorder or something similar, their progress may be more difficult.

 

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

People don’t have the energy to continue a hobby or a sports activity if the competitiveness is increased further.

 

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

Today, young people are already quite smart when they are 12–14, thanks to the new curriculum.

 

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

Some people can have long school journeys and their family may not afford to buy them bus tickets. Same with hobbies.

 

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

E-scooters have caused a lot of accidents but they are also useful for small trips.

 

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

Young people should have their voice heard more in the city.

I want everyone to feel well and that everyone can get a job if they want to get some money to save or to buy something.
