Esittely

I would like to be on the Youth Council, because I want to make Helsinki a better place for young people. I would be good at participating in decision-making. If I make it to the Youth Council, I will participate in meetings at least twice a month. If I make it to the Youth Council, any of you young people can share with me your ideas of things that could be improved in Helsinki, and I will do my best to make it happen. Matters that are important to me include, for example, safety. This is our way of trying to make sure that the voices of young people are heard. When it comes to safety, we are trying to make sure that young people are doing well in Helsinki and that nobody is being discriminated or bullied. I would really appreciate it if you voted for me.

In my spare time, I like to play the double bass and watch birds.

Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

I don’t think it should be monitored so carefully how much people eat vegetarian food, I think it would be enough to serve varied food at school.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

It is important that pupils can also learn social interactions at school.
Thanks to grouping, pupils will learn to get along better with each other.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

There’s no harm in it.
It’s good that there are both remote and contact teaching options.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

I think more attention should be put on a person’s own competence.
I believe competitiveness makes you want to be better than others, and it can be very stressful for young people to be compared to each other.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

It’s good that young people get summer jobs, because it teaches them about working life in adulthood, and young people will learn by working even if they do not have previous work experience.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

I don’t see any reason in having separate toilets for different genders.
What toilet should transgendered people use, then?
I think people could use the same toilets regardless of their gender.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

I think everyone should pay for using public transport.
I don’t think it works well if some people are allowed to ride for free and others have to pay.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

I think e-scooters are very dangerous and cause many traffic accidents in Helsinki.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

It is very important that young people are heard.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

The three most important topics are:

1.Young people’s influencing opportunities, because young people should have opportunities, too;
2.Climate change and nature conservation, it is important to respect nature and fight climate change;
3.Safety, it is important that Helsinki is a safe place for young people.
