Tehdään Helsingistä tasa-arvoinen ja viihtyisä!

Introduction

I’m a 14-year-old from Eastern Helsinki. Issues that are important to me include equality, nature, comfort and sustainable development. Renewable energy, recycling and vegetarian food should all be increased. Free public transport should be offered to all young people in Helsinki. Everyone should be entitled to free hobbies and help in mental health and substance abuse issues.

My hobbies include art and singing

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

Offering more vegetarian food is environmentally friendly, and improving the food would also encourage people to eat more plant-based foods.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

Establishing distance learning could be tried.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

It is important to reduce competitiveness, but people should have the option of competing.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

It is very important to give work experience to those who do not have it.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

The transition to a gender-neutral society promotes the rights of gender minorities.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

Making public transport free would allow everyone to travel by public transport, regardless of family income.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

Banning or eliminating e-scooters is not the best option. Instead, traffic safety could be strengthened by tightening the traffic regulations applicable to e-scooters, for example.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

In democratic decision-making, it is important that decisions are made together.
