Introduction

Hi! I’m a tired teen who mostly focuses on equality issues and having fun. We also cannot afford close our eyes to the climate change!

My hobby is theatre.

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

I think schools should have 2–3 vegetarian days a week, and vegetarian dishes are usually better than meat dishes at schools.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

Grouping activities provide fun memories for the whole group and also improve team spirit.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

I do not think that this would be a good idea. This might work for older age groups, but it would probably not work for grades 1–8.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

Competitiveness gives you the motivation to continue with your hobby, but you need to know your own limits.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

I do not know if I am the right person to talk about this, but early exposure to working life is a good thing and should be encouraged.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

I think this is a good idea, but most places are still not going to do anything about it. But there should be a gender-neutral toilet option everywhere.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

A large proportion of HSL’s passengers are minors, so if public transport became free of charge, the quality of public transport would drop a lot and there would be fewer buses.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

I do not like this idea, but e-scooters could have their own traffic regulations.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

Compromise is cool.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Climate change and nature conservation; Equal opportunities and equality; Art and culture

These are important issues that the Youth Council should focus on.
