Nuorille parempi Helsinki

Presentation

Helsinki is a good city, but young people’s opportunities for outdoor activities and hobbies are poor. This, as well as young people’s opportunities to influence and the combat against climate change, is what I want to improve and promote while I am in the Youth Council.

Hobbies: I have tried many hobbies; at the moment, my hobbies include triathlon and golf. I also play badminton, football, tennis and many other sports.

Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.
Some people have allergies or a special diet that prevent them from eating vegetarian food, but I support an increase in the number of vegetarian days. Vegetarian food is tasty and healthier than red meat.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.
Today, schools do not focus nearly enough on group cohesion. The pupils do not get to know each other, and group work is difficult when the partners are not familiar with each other.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.
I oppose this because distance learning will never take the place of face-to-face meetings and studying in the same room.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.
Every young person must have the option to choose a hobby that is suitable for them. Both competitive and casual recreational activities must be available.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets
There are more important topics than the division of toilets based on gender, and unisex toilets put an end to this unnecessary debate.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18e.
If this helps some children get to their hobbies more easily, it is a good solution; it would also reduce emissions, which is a good thing.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.
Strict rules must be established for the use of e-scooters, or they must be removed from use entirely.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.
The Youth Council’s task is to push through mutual decisions, not one person’s ideas. Compromises must be made, as no decisions can be made without them.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.
Young people’s influencing opportunities. Climate change and nature conservation. Leisure time and recreation.
There are too few opportunities available for us young people to influence matters, which is something that must be improved. Our climate currently poses the greatest threat to us, which is why the efforts to combat climate change must be promoted. The recreational opportunities available to young people are also important.
