Life is like a game of chess, I don't know how to play chess

Introduction

Hi, I’m Linh. People usually call me Mimi. I like to play games and read. Memes are important to me.
I’m running for the Youth Council because I want make a difference in the matters of young people. I enjoy make a difference in general, but I also want to highlight things that are important to me and to others. What are the things that should be changed and improved?

In my spare time, I enjoy reading and playing video games. I also like to watch a lot of anime.
I just started practicing judo a while ago.
My interests vary so often that I don’t really have actual hobbies, expect for the ones I mention above.

Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

Vegetarian food is healthy, of course, but everyone should be given a choice in what they eat. However, schools should offer vegetarian food that everyone can eat if they want.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

Group cohesion and maintaining social relationships are important elements in young people’s personal development.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

Everyone has their own way of studying that feels better for them. It would be good for young people to have the ability to choose what they want, but contact teaching is sometimes more efficient and suitable for a larger number of people (pupils and teachers).

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

Young people should keep their own schedule and use it to estimate how much time they can afford and intend to invest in hobbies. The competitiveness of sports activities motivates young people to try and make an effort in some cases. In team sports, competitiveness can boost team spirit.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

Many young people try to find a summer job, but finding work is difficult if you have no prior work experience. In order to gain that work experience, you first need to work. This poses many difficulties, particularly for young people who are looking for their first summer job.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

It would be good to have three options, for example. This would mean having separate toilets for women and men as well as unisex toilets.
This would allow people to decide for themselves which toilet to use, as not everyone necessarily wants to use a unisex toilet.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

This would encourage young people to use public transport excessively. It is better to choose another option if possible. However, not all young people use public transport all that often. Children’s tickets are not too expensive, however, so keeping things the way they are is fine.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

I agree, since the downsides of e-scooters outnumber the benefits.
There are other popular alternatives available besides e-scooters.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

Making compromises is important, but it is also important for Youth Council members to express their own ideas. However, this depends on the individual and what goals they have.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Young people’s influencing opportunities; Equal opportunities and equality; Healthcare and mental health

I chose:
young people’s influencing opportunities
equal opportunities and equality
healthcare and mental health.

I chose these three specifically because I think that the rest of the options are already implemented pretty well in Finland. These three are the areas that I think need the most focus right now.
