Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

I think that schools should always offer dishes suitable for both a mixed and vegetarian diet, regardless of the day.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

Pupils who are lonely have an opportunity to get to know others, even if they are shy.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

A few weeks of distance learning per school year would be a nice change from contact teaching.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

Excessive competition can lead to quarrels, which can hurt the team spirit of the class, for example.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

I think that the City of Helsinki should offer summer jobs to all young people who want one.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

I think that switching to unisex toilets is not necessary, but if the majority consider it to be the most important thing at the moment, I am not against it.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

Everyone should be able to use public transport for free, as low-income families may not afford to cover their child’s travel card costs.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

I think that e-scooters are a good mode of transport when travelling to places not covered by the public transport system, but I would personally rather use public transport, as, of course, e-scooters pose a risk of accident.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

Besides pushing your own goals, I think that it is also important to hear other people’s opinions.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Equal opportunities and equality; Leisure time and recreation; Urban environment and transport

I think that leisure time, equality and the urban environment are the most important areas, as they are basic needs of the community.
