Lähiöiden asukkaiden ääni!

Introduction

I am an 8th grader from Aurinkolahti who is keen to make a difference. I am running for the Youth Council because I want to improve many of the issues I have observed, especially in the suburbs, that I think other people also consider problematic.

Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

It goes against reason that to provide a small minority with their preferred food, everyone else should go hungry.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

Grouping classes are chill and nice in the middle of rough school days.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

Distance learning enables pupils to work at their own pace.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

There should be both competitive and non-competitive options.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

Everyone has to start their career path from somewhere.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

People who find gendered toilets very problematic can use disabled toilets.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

Freedom of movement is a basic right.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

E-scooters are a convenient and fast way to get around in the city.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

Compromises are important but failing your voters is not right.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Leisure time and recreation; Urban environment and transport; Safety

Each of these impact our lives.
