Helsingistä kiva ja turvallinen paikka kaikille

Introduction

Vote for number 16! I’m a 9th grader. I just started athletics. I really like nature and animals. I enjoy making a difference and participating in everything new. I am running for the Youth Council so I could explore issues and make an impact in a larger scale.

Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

It is good if schools serve more vegetarian food, as many have become vegetarians.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

School pupils don’t really get along with anyone else except their best friend, working in groups and similar actions could help improve this.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

It would be good to have the chance to work remotely. Everyone learns differently, some in contact teaching and others remotely.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

It would be good to reduce it, but there should be a chance to compete for those who wish to.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

Primarily, yes, but also to those with some work experience.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

Gender-neutral life.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

Not sure, personally I don’t think paying for the tickets is a problem.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

Not sure. It is a quick mode of transport and many like it even if it is a little dangerous.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

Many people probably want their idea to go through, but making compromises is important.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Equality and mental health problems are important subjects, and I would like to be there to influence them. And many young people do not get to influence matters enough and some don’t even know how to do it.
