Introduction

I am running for the Youth Council because I want to give younger people the opportunity to have summer jobs. (13–14-year-olds would be given summer jobs, but they would get paid less). I am also a member of my school’s student association board and involved in Kontula Youth Unit’s Ruutibudjetti participatory budgeting model. I love spending time with my friends and training.

Hobbies: Boxing in a competitive team

Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

Because if you are a vegetarian who does not eat meat, it would be fairer for them. Or you could have a meat/chicken/fish option on one side of the table and a vegetarian option on the other side.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

Getting to know people, respecting everyone and telling others what you like, for example.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

Not in my opinion, because distance learning is difficult and does not allow you to see your school friends, but it would be a good option if someone is bullied at school. Then they would not have to see their bullies.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

I think that young people must have opportunities to be physically active and engage in sports if they want.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

Because I think they would learn, and then those with a lot of experience of summer jobs could be there teaching.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

I think that unisex toilets would be good because there is no sense in people having to go to their ‘own’ toilets.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

If you train somewhere and have to travel to and from there by public transport, it can cost a lot of money, and hobbies cost money, but it might be good for public transport to be free if you have no money, and minors would not be asked for money (because minors do not necessarily have money).

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

Because they can cause injuries, and some people do not use them in a smart way.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

It would be good, if we wanted to makes changes, etc.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

Young people’s influencing opportunities; Schools and education; Summer jobs

Summer jobs for younger people; schools could get money for things such as interior decorations, and young people could hold demonstrations related to racism, sexual orientation, equality, etc.
