Parempi ehdokas mukavampi Helsinki nuorille.

Introduction

Hiya :), I wanted to take part in this because I want to have an impact on the lives of young people. My goal is for young people to be happy with school meals, for example, or for them to have a good time in their spare time. I am pretty outgoing myself, and I like to express my opinions.

Hobbies: I play the piano once a week. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.

Answers to the election machine

Schools should have more days during which they only serve vegetarian food.

It would be better for the climate. Two or three times a week would at least be pretty good. Of course, it would be better to offer vegetarian food at schools, and people could then eat whatever they want at home.

Schools should focus on grouping more extensively than now.

School would be a comfortable place for young people. The atmosphere would be better. Young people would not be afraid to express their opinions or be uncertain about them.

Distance learning needs to be established as a permanent learning method in addition to contact teaching.

Distance learning may be pretty fun for some people. But distance learning makes learning difficult. When you are in the same room with the teacher, it is easier to ask for help.

The competitiveness of young people’s sports activities should be reduced.

There are young people who hate losing and others who accept it. Sometimes young people are bullied because they lost.

The City of Helsinki should primarily offer summer jobs to those young people who do not yet have work experience.

It is more difficult for young people without work experience to get used to work when they are a little older. And it may be more difficult for them to understand things.

The public spaces in Helsinki should maintain the division between women’s and men’s toilets.

Women and men’s toilets could be retained. Unisex toilets could also be added. Some people do not necessarily want to use the same toilet with others. So you could choose which toilet to use; if you wanted to go to the women’s toilet where there are only women, you could go there, but if you wanted to go to a toilet with others, you could go there.

Helsinki should start offering free public transport to those under 18.

When young people need to get to their hobbies, for example, they are expected to pay. There are young people who train in gymnastics four times a week, for example, and they cannot pay every time.

It would be better if there were no e-scooters in Helsinki.

E-scooters may be fun to ride, but they are still dangerous, particularly if the rider does not know how to use them. They should not be used in the evenings in particular, as it is dark outside and the rider cannot see well. If you want to ride them, you should ride them on roads and not on pavements and in bike lanes.

For a member of the Youth Council, pushing their own goals through is a more important quality than agreeing on compromises.

Young people’s opinions are important when the subject concerns their lives. So if you want to share your goal or opinion, you should not be uncertain about it. But you can sometimes make compromises.

On which topics would you like the Youth Council to focus, in particular? Select the three that are the most important to you.

I chose this because equality is pretty important and no one should be excluded because of their skin colour, for example. I chose schools and education because some young people have reasons not to enjoy being at school, and learning is difficult for them. I chose leisure time and recreation because some young people’s parents cannot afford recreational activities.
