Presentation

Malminkartano youth center is a game-oriented open space for 9 to 18 year olds. The new accessible youth center was opened in the fall of 2020, and the facilities were designed based on the wishes and needs of young people.

The youth center organizes activities for 9–18-year-olds:

  • Children’s Time for 3rd–6th graders (ages 9–12)
  • Youth Time for 7th graders and older (ages 13–18)

Our facilities are open to everyone, substance-free, and free from discrimination. During open hours, multiple youth instructors are present at the youth center.

A Game-Oriented Youth Center

We offer a wide range of digital, physical, and traditional gaming equipment.

  • Digital gaming equipment includes PS5, VR headsets, Nintendo Switch consoles, retro consoles, and a room with 12 gaming PCs.
  • Traditional gaming equipment includes table tennis, foosball, billiards (with child- and youth-friendly tables), and a large selection of board and card games.
  • The full-size sports hall is equipped for floorball, basketball, and indoor football, as well as ropes, rings, dance mirrors, and other activity equipment. Outside, there is a playing area with artificial turf.

Plenty of Other Fun Activities

In addition to gaming, you can hang out, watch movies on the big screen, or cook in our spacious, well-equipped kitchen. Your wishes are heard, and you can participate in planning and implementing youth center activities.

Besides open activities, we organize trips, events, and group activities. You can discuss anything on your mind with the youth instructors.

Part of the Kaarela Youth Work Unit

The unit also includes Kannelmäki Youth Center, Malminkartano Recreation Hall, the targeted youth work team Länsiluotsi, and the hobby activity coordination program Operaatio Pulssi!

Our facilities are also available for reservations by organizations and residents.
