So what to do in the Youth budget?

In the Youth Budget, all young people aged 13-17 years can influence how the money of the City of Helsinki’s youth services is spent. Through the Youth Budget, you can influence young people’s leisure time, recreational activities and services. Among others, what kind of activities are organised at the youth centres of your area or what kind of events are available for young people in Helsinki.

In spring, we asked you what kind of wishes and thoughts you have about leisure time, hobbies and the sense of security in the evenings, for example. We have read all the survey responses and compiled them. Now the next phase of the Youth Budget begins, that is, the workshops.

Workshops will be held at youth centres around Helsinki between 13 September and 11 October, and you can decide for yourself which area’s workshop you want to participate in. You can also participate in more than one workshop if you wish. You can see the list of workshops here: https://nuorten.hel.fi/en/take-part-and-make-a-difference/workshops/

In the workshops, you will first go through the responses to the survey in the area with the youth leaders. The idea is to get acquainted with what other young people in the area consider important. After that, we will come up with proposals for what could be done, acquired, where to go and how the lives and well-being of young people could be improved next year in Helsinki in general.

You can make small or larger proposals in the workshops. If the ideas concern the whole of Helsinki or if they cannot be implemented with the money of youth services, they can be the subject of an initiative, for example. Area-specific proposals related to young people’s leisure time will proceed to the next phase of the Youth Budget, i.e. voting.
