Exhibition: Nuorten Taide Nyt 2025 Freedom
Art works by young 15–25-year-old artists living in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area will be exhibited in the Kanneltalo gallery on 23 May–25 June 2025. This year, the theme of the joint exhibition is freedom. The young artists have taken diverse, fresh approaches to the theme. The exhibition features text, drawings, photographs and paintings.
Last year’s exhibition included a survey on the theme for the next exhibition, and ‘freedom’ was chosen among many good proposals. This topic has brought up themes such as emotions and interpersonal relationships, which the young artists have addressed from various perspectives.
The annual ‘Nuorten Taide Nyt’ (youth art now) exhibition produced by the City of Helsinki Youth Services together with Kanneltalo highlights young artists. For young people, art serves as a medium to publicly express thoughts and feelings that would otherwise stay hidden.
Participating in the exhibition helps young artists connect with other people and society at large. The experience of exhibiting work in a gallery can also support the development of a young person’s artist identity and encourage them to keep making art.
Joint exhibition open: 23 May–25 June 2025
