During the autumn break week, AnnanHouse is celebrating Fairy Tale Day and children’s literature!

At the event, you can dance, pop into the open workshops and explore the Children’s Book Festival exhibition. You can also meet Ricky Rapper and other characters from story books!

AnnanHouse is an electronic dance music event for the entire family, which introduces visitors to the wonderful atmosphere that is disco culture. Annantalo’s own DJ Nicolas Sebastien is in charge of the music, spinning top records ranging from house to disco.

The disco will feature fog machines and bright lights.

Free entry, no advance registration.

Meet a fairy tale character! Tanssiluokka
Say hello to Risto Räppääjä, Molli, Supermarsu, and Tatu and Patu! But where on earth is Mr. Clutterbuck?

Hiding places for emotions, Kuvataideluokka 3
What would joy, excitement or anger be like if they lived in a small box or jar? In this non-stop workshop, emotions take shape as colours, patterns and little stories, using recycled materials. Participants will make their own ‘emotion box’ or draw an ‘emotion jar’, and will be able to take their creation home with them.
The workshop will be led by illustrator Keanne van de Kreeke.

Oravalaakso drawing workshop, Kuvataideluokka 2
The inhabitants of Oravalaakso (Squirrel valley) have gone their separate ways! Who has gone missing, and what sort of new characters might move into the valley? Come and draw the runaway residents back home, or make up completely new characters, animals and personalities. In this workshop, you can let your imagination run wild!
The workshop will be led by illustrator Johanna Witick.

Temporary tattoos, 2nd-floor corridor
In the workshop, participants will have the chance to create temporary tattoos and body paint under the guidance of tattoo and comic book artist Apila Pepita. Participants can choose a temporary tattoo from Apila’s range of ready-made designs or design their own! You can create body art on your or your friend’s skin.
The workshop will be led by comic book artist Apila Pepita.

Mr. Clutterbuck’s dreams, 2nd-floor corridor
Create fairy-tale-themed pop-up cards. You can send the cards to a friend or give them to Mr. Clutterbuck.
The workshop will be led by art educator Marjut Maristo.

17.00–19.00
Colourful story huts, Teatteriluokka
Tarinamaja offers children and adults a relaxing break amidst the energetic disco atmosphere.
Ulla-Maija Vanhala from Runoropinoita will host the story huts.

18.55–19.20
Character parade, Annantalo front yard
The disco evening culminates in a character parade featuring familiar characters from children’s books:
Risto Räppääjä, Molli, Supermarsu, Mr. Clutterbuck and Tatu and Patu!

AnnanHouse Disco: Fairy Tale Day is part of the Children’s Book Festival, which is held at Annantalo from 7 October 2026 to 27 February 2027. The Children’s Book Festival celebrates children’s picture books and reading through an exhibition, author visits, workshops and events.
