During the autumn break, we watch Finnish films based on children’s books at Annantalo Holiday Cinema.

Holiday Cinema is part of the Children’s Book Festival, which is held at Annantalo from 7 October 2026 to 27 February 2027. The Children’s Book Festival celebrates children’s picture books and reading through an exhibition, author visits, workshops and events.

The film screenings are free of charge; no advance registration required. Please arrive in good time, as we will let the audience in on a first-come, first-served basis. The film screenings have a limited number of seats, and we will admit groups where possible.

Ella ja kaverit – Operaatio saukko

Ella ja kaverit – Operaatio saukko is an energetic film for the whole family, based on Timo Parvela’s much-loved Ella ja kaverit book series. When Ella and her classmates are sent on a trip to the woods under their teacher’s supervision to catch up on their schoolwork, they meet entirely new friends: an adorable family of otters living in the nature reserve.

At the same time, however, a very different sort of creature is also causing a ruckus in the woods: an old familiar face to the children, the cunning businessman Isä Yksi, who intends to clear the entire forest to make way for his new holiday resort. The mysterious woodsman Huntteri, Principal Piippu – who has gone mad for cycling – and a giant otter that strangely resembles the teacher also appear and begin to stir things up. A hilarious nature adventure lies ahead as Ella and her friends set out to foil the businessman’s scheme and save the forest – and the otters!
