Jässäri-leffa: Wicked – Valtuusto 150v
Description
Mocked for her green skin, Elphaba forms an unlikely but deep friendship with the popular girl Glinda at Shiz University.
An encounter with the Wizard of Oz brings their friendship to a turning point.
The lead roles of the film, telling the story of the witches of Oz, are played by the stellar Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Broadway's The Color Purple) as Elphaba – misunderstood for her green skin and searching for her true power – and Grammy winner and global superstar Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular, privileged and ambitious young woman still discovering the true voice of her heart.
The two meet as they begin their magical studies at the enchanted Shiz University, where an unexpected but deep friendship forms between them. When they encounter the Wizard of Oz, their friendship is put to the test and their lives take separate paths. Glinda's thirst for popularity makes her attracted to power, while Elphaba's decision to remain honest with herself and others has unexpected and shocking consequences for her fate. They will later become known in the Land of Oz as Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
Oscar® winner Michelle Yeoh appears in the film as the magnificent headmistress of Shiz University, Madame Morrible; Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton, Fellow Travelers) as Fiyero, a mischievous and carefree prince; Tony nominee Ethan Slater (Broadway's SpongeBob SquarePants, Fosse/Verdon) as Boq, a helpful Munchkin student; Marissa Bode in her film debut as Nessarose, Elphaba's more popular sister; and pop culture icon Jeff Goldblum as the wonderful Wizard of Oz.
