Skateboard Truck summer school at Stoa square
Description
Come along and explore the Skateboard Truck and what it feels like to skate along! You can borrow skateboards and protective equipment from the Skateboard Truck.
The instructor at the truck will be professional skateboarder Petrus Marttila, who has toured daycare centres, schools, youth centres and various events with the Skateboard Truck since 2012.
“At the summer skateboarding school, participants will learn the basics of skateboarding and then move on to experimentation and inventing unique forms of self-expression using this versatile piece of equipment.
There are some unwritten rules in skateboarding culture concerning, for example, skate park behaviour, maintaining a safe and good atmosphere, giving others space, but also taking it for yourself and skating in your own turn, etc. During the skateboarding courses, we will explain these unwritten rules and make skateboarding more approachable and safe.
After learning the basics, skateboarding allows you to move around freely and spend time with your friends outdoors regardless of time, place or financial situation,” teacher Petrus Marttila says.
No advance registration required! Bring your own skateboard and protective equipment or borrow them from the truck.
