Pre-Midsummer party on Sitratori square
Description
Let’s get in the mood for midsummer celebrations under birch trees and in the warmth of the sauna. Come and enjoy music, games and a relaxed atmosphere.
The sauna will be heated from 16.00 onwards. Bring your swimwear and towel and hop into the sauna!
In case of bad weather the music programme and workshops will be held in Kanneltalo's lobby.
MUSIC PROGRAMME
15.00–16.00 Let’s sing! – Magical Midsummer notes
There is nothing more pleasant than singing – except for singing together. Musician and all-round music enthusiast Mari Kätkä makes the festive folk sing accompanied by an accordion. Come along and enjoy the power and magic of singing together.
16.00–18.00 DJ Koo-Blank plays evergreens
18.00–19.00 Polenta
New folk music with a fresh and fierce twist! Polenta are three violinists and one guitarist who play their own and traditional folk music at full speed and with all their heart. Line-up: Aino Kinnunen, Veera Kuisma, Mikko Malmivaara, Olli Sippola.
OTHER PROGRAMME
16.00–18.00 Midsummer bingo
In the Hupsansaa workshop, you can make your own bingo card and venture outside to spot signs of summer in the surroundings. Can you find birds, rays of sunshine or a small ant? All participants receive a small prize.
15.00–17.00 Traditional games
The activity point hosted by the Perinneleikit ry association for traditional games introduces participants to the joy of games with the help of a game innovator. There are no age limits when it comes to play, and we encourage everyone to join in. The activities include traditional shared games, such as noughts and crosses, dodgeball and fairy footsteps. The play point also includes skipping ropes, street chalk and hopscotch.
17.00–18.00 Toy car Martti
The real toy car Martti opens its doors. In the real-life toy car Martti, you can sit in the driver’s seat, press all the buttons and listen to music – playfully, of course.
In cooperation with: Kanneltalo, youth services, Global Music Department of the Sibelius Academy and D-asema Kannelmäki
