Pick It, Learn It, Eat It” – Wild Forest Nasi Ulam(herbs) Workshop
This workshop introduces participants to wild herbs, edible plants, and Malaysian food traditions through the perspective of the Finnish forest.
Together with Michelin-starred chef Jouni Toivanen, participants will forage and learn to identify seasonal wild plants while exploring the Malaysian ulam tradition, where fresh herbs and plants are enjoyed together with rice as part of a shared meal.
The programme includes:
- identification of wild herbs and edible plants
- guided forest walk and ingredient foraging
- discussions on food culture and biodiversity
preparation of a forest-inspired nasi ulam meal and shared dining experience
The workshop brings together food culture, nature, and cultural exchange between Malaysia and Finland through the perspective of gastro diplomacy.
