Heels – A Bold New Direction in Modern Choreography
Heels is a daring and expressive dance style that blends the energy of hip hop, the flair of jazz-funk, the technique of jazz, and the glamour of burlesque, along with elements from fashion shows, posing, and stylish gestures.
In heels dance classes, you’ll develop femininity, fluidity, artistry, rhythm, and musicality. You'll also learn posture, balance, and—most importantly—how to walk beautifully in high heels.
In just a few years, hip hop heels has become a recognized dance style, similar to waacking or burlesque. Since it’s a relatively new genre, it doesn’t have a fixed movement vocabulary of its own. Instead, it borrows movement, style, and musicality from other styles to create choreography that gives choreographers almost complete freedom of expression. You’ll find influences from jazz-funk and even traditional dance classes.
This class is best suited for those with previous dance experience.
