Winter Bash at Helsinki Olympic Stadium
Description
The
traditional winter holiday event for the whole family – Helsinki Winter Bash–
will take place in urban environment this year, as the legendary Olympic
Stadium and its surrounding areas in Töölö will set the stage for the event. In
previous years, the event has been organised in Paloheinä. As usual, the event
will be free of charge with plenty of things to do. Helsinki Winter Bash will
be held at the Olympic Stadium on Tuesday, 22 February from 15:30 to 18:30. Paw
Patrol members Marshall and Chase will be the stars of the event.
Paw Patrol will perform twice at the
Olympic Stadium during the event, and the performances can be enjoyed from the
stadium stands. In addition, Marshal and Chase will hold a meet-and-greet for
fan hugs in between their performances in front of the Olympic Stadium at the
event square at approx. 16:45.
Naturally, cross-country skiing on the
stadium’s unique trails is an integral part of the event. Skiers will be
allowed to enter the trail area in small groups with sufficient
intervals.Cross-country skiing club Pakilan Veto will hold a playful sprint
competition for children in the trail area. You may have to wait in line to
enter the trail area and only people with skiing equipment will be allowed to
enter.
Outside the Olympic Stadium, near the
southern end, you can find the snowman corner of Suomen Latu. There will be
plenty of snow to make as many snowmen as your heart desires. Instructors of
Suomen Latu will provide guidance and tips on how to easily make snow figures
also from powdery snow.
Töölö ball field no. 6 will host the
activities of FunAction,
including disc golf,
urban snowball fighting and zesta punta. In addition, HIFK will provide the
setting for street hockey in the field, and you can measure the speed of your
slapshots. DJ RNo will keep things moving.
Outside the Olympic Stadium, at the
northern end, you can find the Snow Days for Kids area, where you can try out different
snow sports, such as the skiing stunt course, the small jumping ramp and the
precision throwing relay that imitates biathlon.
The surroundings of the Olympic Stadium
will also feature EasySport’s photo orienteering
course and a demonstration of the ski-trail machinery of Helsinki Sports
Services, such as the ski-trail machine and tractors.
The event is part of the Olympic Stadium’s Helsinki Ski Weeks series of events.
